Data sheet
RSO (Raupenschlepper Ost) tracked tractors were produced from 1942 by the Austrian plant Steyr-Daimler -Puch A.G., then also by the German Klockner -Humboldt -Deutz and Graf & Stift. The decision to start the production of a tractor with fully tracked traction was difficult for vehicles used at the beginning of the war on the Eastern Front to move over snow and mud. The RSO tractor was intended for the transport and supply of artillery. He was doing very well in the conditions of the Russian winter (mud, snow). It was distinguished by reliability, ease of maintenance and the ability to perform a variety of roles - on any terrain - that other vehicles lacked. It was powered by an 85 HP gasoline engine or a 66 HP air-cooled diesel engine. Carrying capacity 1.5 t, speed on the road 30 km / h. A crew of two soldiers. Three basic variants of this tractor were produced: RSO / 1: basic; RSO / 2: armed with a 75 mm gun; RSO / 3: with a semi-open driver's cab. Today, several of these tractors can be found in museums around the world.
