Who has not admired the pirate galleon Black Pearl and the adventures of its captain Jack Sparrow? Galleons are three-masted commercial or war ships sailing the seas and oceans in the 16th – 17th centuries. They had an aft superstructure tapering towards the top and a figure in the bow called a galloon. The Black Pearl is an infamous pirate ship that was originally named the Evil Witch. It was her figure that was a galloon. At one point, it was sold and converted into a merchant ship, and after renaming it, it reverted to piracy. This legendary ship of the seven seas, with sails dark as a moonless night, with a properly painted hull, armed with cannons and manned by a ghostly crew was every inch a pirate ship. Built with action in mind, this ghost ship could outperform any other sailing ship.
