The polonaise with a ketch rig was built of mahogany wood in 1972 at the Maritime Yacht Shipyard. Leonid Teliga in Szczecin. Sail area 80 m². Yacht length: almost 14 m. The yacht in advance was intended for the OSTAR '72 regatta for lonely sailors, where captain Krzysztof Baranowski took 12th place out of 43 starters. Directly after the end of the regatta, Krzysztof Baranowski set off on a cruise around the Earth. The start of the OSTAR '72 regatta took place in Plymouth (England), the finish line in Newport (USA), then the Atlantic and crossing the equator, Cape Town, Indian Ocean, Hobart, circumnavigating Cape Horn, the Falklands, again Plymouth and at the end of June 24, 1973 Szczecin. It was an adventure cruise. A heavy storm resulted in the yacht capsizing. The captain managed to put the yacht down, but major repairs were made at the shipyard. K. Baranowski set a long unbeatable speed record for traveling the distance from Australia to South America (45 days) by a yacht. This record went to the Guinness Book. Currently, after renovation and many complicated passages, the owner of the yacht is Nasz Rejs from Szczecin. S / Y Polonez can be rented with the captain for a cruise on the Baltic Sea.
