Description

The V105 torpedo boat built for Kaiserliche Marine at the Szczecin shipyard Vulcan Verke A.G. In 1915, she was in the German imperial fleet in the Baltic Sea as a training ship until the end of the war. After the war, it was taken over, along with other ships, by the British Royal Navy. Displacement 340 tons, propulsion: 2 steam turbines, 5000 HP, speed: 29 knots, crew of 79 officers and sailors. Armament (1939): three 75 mm guns, one 40 mm AA gun, two 13.2 mm machine guns, two 7.92 mm machine guns. The ship was purchased by the Polish Navy after the division of the imperial fleet after the defeat of the First World War by the Germans. The ship needed renovation and the Polish authorities decided to carry out a renovation in Poland. The ship was named ORP Mazur. Due to the lack of funds, the renovation took a long time. Eventually, in 1922, the flag was raised on the ship. He was included in the torpedo squadron. Just before the outbreak of the war, Masuria was transporting military materials from Gdynia to Hel. At the outbreak of the war, it was located in Oksywie. On September 1, ORP Mazur was attacked by Luftwaffe bombers. He fired from the AA gun and machine guns, but was unfortunately hit by a bomb. The crew on the sinking ship fired to the end. 40 sailors were killed in action. The 75 mm guns were dismantled from the wreckage and placed on land, the AA gun and machine guns were mounted on the Kashubian Dragon armored train, which fought to defend the coast. The wreck itself was excavated by the Germans and scrapped after the defeat of the Coastal Defense.
