Description
On September 6, 1620, a group of the first English colonists left Plymouth for America on a small trading galleon, the Mayflower. During this voyage, the vessel was commanded by Captain Christopher Jones. After returning to England in 1624, the sailing ship was destroyed. More than three hundred years later, in 1956, a replica of the ship was built. The Mayflower II now serves as a floating museum off the eastern coast of the United States.
