Description

The San Martin galleon was the flagship of the famous Spanisht Armada under the command of the Duke of Medina Sidonia in 1588. San Martin was badly damaged at the Battle of Gravelines by a group of English ships. San Martin was originally built as the Portuguese galleon São Martinho in 1580. No original blueprints or drawings are available for this tall ship, but it is believed to be about 180 feet long and about 1,000 tons of displacement. The ship was equipped with 48 guns of various weights.
