Data sheet
On January 28, 1819, the keel was laid for the Russian brig Mercury. After less than a year and a half of construction, the ship was launched on May 7. The ship was designed as a patrol vessel for operations off the coast of the Caucasus. The main building material of the sailing ship was Crimean oaks. The unit was equipped with long oars, which, combined with its shallow draft, made the ship suitable for operating close to the coast. Mercury served until November 1857.
