Description

The V108 torpedo boat built for Kaiserliche Marine at the Szczecin shipyard Vulcan Verke A.G. From 1915 she took part in the battles with the German imperial fleet in the Baltic Sea, from 1916 as a training ship until the end of the war. After the war, it was taken over, along with other ships, by the British Royal Navy. Displacement 340 tons, propulsion: 2 steam turbines 5500 HP, speed: 29 knots, crew of 77 officers and sailors. Armament (1925): two 75 mm guns, two torpedo tubes, two 7.92 mm machine guns. The ship was purchased by the Polish Navy after the division of the imperial fleet after the defeat of the First World War by the Germans. The ship required renovation and the Polish authorities decided to carry out a renovation at the Rosyth shipyard in England. The ship, along with other twin torpedo boats, with technical problems (partly on their own, partly towed) ended their journey in Puck. The ship was named ORP Kaszub. Eventually, in 1921, the flag was raised on the ship. He was included in the torpedo squadron. She served as a training ship. In 1925, Kashubia, while sailing through the shallows near Rewa, suffered a drive failure. The repair was to be performed at the Schichau shipyard in Gdańsk, where a boiler exploded in July 1925 and the ship was torn apart. The cause of the accident was not clearly defined and even sabotage by German shipyard workers was suspected. As a result of the explosion, three crew members were killed. After lifting and testing the wreckage, a decision was made to scrap the ship.
