Opis

Sovereign of the Seas (Władca Mórz) był w momencie wodowania najpiękniej zdobionym okrętem Royal Navy. Ze względu na ornamenty koszt okrętu stał się na tyle wysoki że konieczne było wprowadzenie specjalnego podatku na ten cel. W 1637 roku królewski okręt reprezentacyjny odbył swój pierwszy, niespełna miesięczny rejs by następnie przez kolejne 15 lat cumować w porcie Chatham. Następne czterdzieści lat historii żaglowca wypełniał udział w wielu bitwach. W tym czasie jego nazwa została dwukrotnie zmieniona. Ostatecznie wysłużony okręt spłonął w porcie podczas przypadkowego pożaru w 1697 roku.
